Getting a speeding ticket can turn your good day to bad very quickly. If this has recently happened to you, know that there is hope of getting out of a speeding ticket. Always remember first and foremost that you must show respect to everyone in the system starting with the police officer if you wish to have any chance of getting your ticket dismissed. Stack the deck in your favor by using the following tips to get out of your speeding ticket.
- Do not argue with the police officer. When you are pulled over, the officer is probably just as anxious about the situation as you are. Officers are concerned with their own safety and they don’t know what type of person you are until he approaches the vehicle. Treat the officer with respect, even if you think he is wrong and that you did not speed. Don’t be discourteous to the officer or else he will definitely remember you when it comes time for your court date.
- When the officer asks you if you know why they pulled you over, tell them that you do not. If you say to the officer “Yeah, I was speeding”, you just admitted your guilt.
- Ask the police officer if they can just give you a warning ticket. Before he leaves to go back to his cruiser, apologize sincerely and ask if he could just give you a warning ticket. If you don’t ask, you don’t receive.
- Jot down detailed notes. Once you leave the stop scene, pull over into a parking lot and jot down all the details in regards to the stop that you can remember. It is important to note the road conditions, other vehicles, time of day, and anything else that may be important later. Often some small detail that you may overlook later will be the key to get you out of your speeding ticket.
- Consider legal counsel. In some cases it may be wise to hire an attorney to go to court on your behalf. Although this will be a more expensive method than doing it yourself, it may save you time. You also get the benefit of relying on their expertise.
- Try to delay your court appearance. The easiest way to get out of your speeding ticket is to not have the officer show at your court appearance. Make a mental note of the time of day that the officer pulled you over. Were you pulled over early in the morning? If you suspect they work the late night shift, try to get a late morning court time to increase the odds of them not showing.
- Before the trial begins, ask the officer if they can dismiss the ticket. It is not totally out of the realm of possibility that the officer will just dismiss the ticket just to save the court time.
- Dress nice for your court date. Show the respect that our court system deserves and dress professionally or in business casual. Don’t even think of wearing flip flops, tank tops, or shorts in the courtroom.
- Mind your manners in the courtroom. Show respect for the court by answering with yes mam or yes sir when addressed. Humility and respect will go a long way. Keep your cool and don’t become argumentative in the courtroom. Be calm and present the facts of your case in a respectful manner.
- Don’t show up late to your court appearance. If you show up late for your court appearance, don’t bother showing up at all. If you are late, you will forfeit your appeal.
- Take defensive driving. Don’t forget that most states will let you take defensive driving to remove your speeding ticket. In most jurisdictions, defensive driving may be taken once a year to get a ticket dismissed. Even though defensive driving will cost some money, it will be cheaper in the long run because you will not have to deal with higher insurance costs.
If you employ these techniques, you will significantly increase your chances of getting out of a speeding ticket. It is possible to get out of your speeding ticket if you put these tips into action. If you don’t ask, you won’t receive.

Speeding tickets are about economics not safety. Your best defense is economic. Never pay on the spot. You should always contest a ticket in court, you will get the chance to plea bargain, for a lesser charge because it is cheaper than a hearing. For those who say speeding tickets are about safety and not about making money, please explain the proliferation of speed cameras and automatic mail in fines smoothing the money flow. Why aren't the police doing something else?
go to the dmv and pay for a copy of your driving record

Begging is not cool. Just be sure to dress in nothing but a thong, genuflect upon entering the courtroom, and always call the magistrate 'Your Majesty'. Good luck!!
Also depends on the state you received the speeding tickets in as every state has different laws.

None, never had a ticket.
A history of bad driving will disqualify you, but if it is just a couple speeding tickets, you should be fine. They don't expect you to be perfect.
